Depending on who you ask--like a retail store--"The Holidays" may start in October, with Halloween (with stores setting up for X-mas in October, although some in September; and perhaps a few in August). Then, it rolls to Thanksgiving--with a few giving polite nods to Veterans Day. We then role into the biggest commercialized holiday, Christmas, with some others, like Hanukkah, ending with NYE, and then, we do it all over again.

For decades, it's been too commercialized. Charlie Brown talked about it back in the day when his special came out. I suppose if one looks it up, it probably has more movies and specials than any other holiday.

Some people celebrate the holidays. Others, for various reasons, choose not to. We don't really. My wife, and her family at large, don't because of their personal and religious beliefs. For me, a large reason I didn't was because I've worked as a government contractor. Thus, when there are holidays, the business is closed down, and I'm not paid; the government employees get their pay. So, not really much reason to enjoy holidays, when I'm not paid for not working, while others are.

This should be a time for people to unite, though, no matter what your beliefs. One has just lived through another year, which can be seen as a big accomplishment, on the global scale. When you think of all the things that can be against you--from illness to weather to bad people--it's a nice little miracle to still be alive, and to share that with family and friends.
